Lesson plan Class: 11 Theme: At the dentist. Conditional sentences. Types of conditionals Aim: Learning the rule of conditional sentences. Developing and improving the speaking skills about tooth and toothache using new topical words. Speaking on the situation at the dentist’s cabinet. Equipment: school smart board, school book, paper, coloured pencils Pupils’ aims: I know what conditional sentences are I know how to compose conditional sentences. I can speak and understand English at the dentist using new medical term. I can give recommendations how to avoid toothache and how to feel at the dentist. Procedures of the lesson 1. Hello my dear friends. How are you today? How are you filling today? - Who is on duty today? - What date is it today? - What day is it today? - Who is absent? 2. Phonetic and speech charging: Testing of students in speech pronunciation of sounds in the study of the words, as well as improving listening skills. Speak on these words and on their meanings. What is common in these words? health- conscious Be healthy go to a gym diet to lose weight incurable diseases Aids cancer regular exercise 3. Checking of pupils’ homework (ex 15 page 62) Now give a back translation of some Russian sentences which you might use while explaining a doctor or somebody else your aches and pains. Take any card, read it and translate. - Я чувствую, что больна.- Я думаю мне лучше пойти и лечь.( I’m feeling ill.- I think I’d better go and lie down.) - Я чувствовала такое головокружение, что почти потеряла сознание. ( I felt so dizzy that I nearly fainted.) - Я должна была пройти обследование внутренних органов, но это было совсем безболезненно, ( I had to have an internal examination but it was quite painless.) - Они сделали мне укол и это действительно было больно, ( They gave me an injection and it really hurt.) 4. Study of new material: Today we shall speak about Conditional sentences. First of all we’ll repeat the rule from previous course of English. Then we shall learn new words about the situation “At the dentist” do the exercises and answer the questions. Remember what words do you know about health? Open your copybooks, write down the date. How to compose conditional and how many types of conditionals? Make up a poster according the following criterions: 1. Capacity 2. Creativity 3. Using new topical words 4. Shortened inf. 5. Esthetics Presentation Open your book at page 63 find the ex 6 you can see the text about John situation at the dentist. Read the text and answer have you ever been in the same situation? Speaking on the text Each group need speak on the theme 1. How to feel at the dentist? 2. How to avoid toothache? Make up a poster as recommendations using new topical terms Presentation 5.
