Урок английского языка по теме "Образование", 8 класс
| Date: 24.12.2014 Title: Education. Reviewing Student level: Form 8 Number of students: 12 Goals: to encourage students’ imagination, to develop their speaking and reading skills on the theme, to widen their vocabulary. Objectives: SWBAT (Students will be able to): make up 10 sentences working in group, use vocabulary in speech on the theme. Equipment: copies of the text illustration, cards with vocabulary, pictures, slides, computer, English text-book for 8 form by Т.Д.Кузнецова, П.Г. Козлов 2013 г. Outline of lesson: 1.Warming up: brainstorming on the quotation of famous people 2.Group work. Vocabulary on the theme “Education” 3.Speaking. The work with the text 4.Speaking. Share opinion. Group work. 5.Speaking. Project “Schools in Great Britain” 6.Speaking. Project “Schools of future” 7.H\T explanation 8.Lesson evaluation Stages of the lesson 1.Introduction 1. Good afternoon, children. How are you today? P1: We are fine. P2, P3, etc… T: What emotions do you feel? Positive emotions Negative emotions Satisfaction unsatisfaction Happiness irritation Joy boredom Success sadness Admiration anxiety Proud fear Surprise T: Today at the lesson we are going to do… What? Get acquainted with Find out learn remember P1: Today at the lesson I will….. P2: Today at the lesson I will….. 2.Warm up. 2.T: Let’s read the quotations of famous people: 1. A child miseducated is a child lost. (John F.Kennedy) 2.The nation that hasthe schools has the future.(Bismark) 3. I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand. (Chinese proverb) (1. Students read, pay attention to the pronunciation. 2. Students chose one they like best and try to remember without looking at the table.) T: Today we are going to work in groups G1, G2, Let’s remember the rules of working in groups: 1. work together: 2. be attentive to each other, polite, 3.don’t interfere with each other, 4.help each other 5.follow the plan 6.keep on time 7.every pupil have to present the ideas of the group T: The plan of our English lesson is: 1. Lexics on the theme “Education” 2.Reading the text “The best years of our life” 3. Speaking. Share opinion on the theme. 4. Speaking. Project “Schools in GB” 5.Conclusion 3.Check up lexics on the theme “Education” 3. T: The first task is Lexics. Divide words into groups- Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives. (Material #1) T: The second task is – Guess the words. Give one word. (infant, private, uniform, science, modern, core) (Material #2) T: And now you should look at the table – it’ s your self assessment Your steps to Success (Students work individually, evaluate their work at the lesson- For example - the first step.) 4.Speaking/ Reading The text “The best years of our life” 4.T asks Sts to read the text about two different school situation and decide what the children have to do or don’t have to do (Material #3) have to do don’t have to do T asks Students to think about: 1. What are some facts about school situations? 2. Which situation do you like best? 1. T- G1, G2 Students read the text one by one and translate the text into Russian and fill in the table. 5.Exercises T asks Sts to do exercises Students relax, doing exercises 6. Speaking / Share opinion T asks the Sts to -share their opinion –What some British teenagers think about school G1, G2 - they read sentences and then give their opinion to class 7. Speaking. Project “Schools in GB” T: You present your projects –G1 (the main features of primary school), G2 (the main features of secondary school) T: The main steps on working with projects: 1.collect information and illustrations 2.revise all the material on the theme 3.combine all possible characteristics 4. draw or make the project in any of the following forms – a scheme, a collage, a poster, a booklet etc.. 5. present your project to the class 6.Explain your ideas. G1 “Primary school in GB” G2 “Secondary education in GB” 8. Speaking. Project “Schools of Future” T: Work in groups and make a project “My ideal school” G1; G2; G3; T: Tell us about your future school answering some questions: 1. What is your school like? 2. What subjects are you taught at your school? 3. Do boys and girls study together or in separate schools? 4. What about school uniform? Etc…. 1. Sts work in groups making their project. 2. Sts present their projects 9. H\T explanation 10. Conclusion (quotations of famous people) T asks Sts to choose the quotation which best suits to our lesson and prove it. Sts choose the quotation which best suits and find out why. 11. Evaluation 1.T: What emotions did you feel? I felt….. Why? Because I …… -was (not) bored -worked hard -didn’t relax -answered properly Was active, emotional -fulfilled the task -received a reward (a good mark) 2.T: During today’s lesson You have Got acquainted with Found out learnt remembered 3.T: We have reached the goal of the lesson because You know how to ……, You can ….. (Students speak about what they know and can) Now I know .../ Now I can... . Understand the information…. explain the information…. say my own opinion on …. Examinations are very important here and we have to study after school for about two hours at a “juku”, a special school which prepares us for exams. Then we go home and have to do our school homework. But we also have to find time for sports and music and martial arts. In my school we have to tidy our classrooms every day and clean the whole school once a month. So I study by radio and use the Internet. A teacher sometimes visits us too. I’ve got a brother and a sister and we do a lot of work together. We do projects and talk to other kids because we use the Internet. We have a web- camera so we can see science experiments. But we don’t have to sit in the classrooms or keep quiet! We have to organize things, which does us good.
