Индира Зарипова Lesson 4 Future Indefinite Tense The form tense is the Future Indefinite Tense. It always says: “I am used for actions that will take place in the future time”. The formation of the Future Indefinite Tense: … shall(will) + verb … A dying man was asked to forgive his neighbour. The man said: “Let it be, if I die, I’ll forgive him; but if I don’t die, I’ll show him what’s what”. I’ll tell = I shall tell There was an Old Man who said: “How shall I flee from this horrible cow? I shall sit on this stile, And continue to smile, Which may soften the heart of that cow”. You’ll get = You will get Proverbs · Show me your company and I’ll tell you what you are. · You spit in his eye and he will reply it’s just dew from the sky. · Follow the river and you’ll get to the sea. · He that does you an ill tirn will never forgive you. · He that will steal an egg will steal an ox. Lesson 5 … Continuous Tense Present Continuous Tense The fifth tense is the Present Continuous tense. It always says: “I express an action which is happening at the moment of speaking”. The formation of this tense is as follows: auxiliary verb (am, are, is) + (verb + -ing) Past Continuous Tense It is used to express an action which was going on at a definite moment in the past. The formation of this tense: “be” in the past + (verb + -ing) Mother: - Jane, what is Mary doing? Jane: - Well, she is skating if the ice is as thick as she thinks, but if the ice is as I think, she is swimming. An amoeba named Sam and his brother Were having a drink with each other; In the midst of their quaffing They split their sides laughing. And each of them now is a mother. Some words about the Gerund. It always says: “I am formed like Present Participle, by adding the suffix –ing.” A gerund is partly a verb and partly a noun. A gerund can be the subject or the object of a verb or it may be governed by a preposition.
