The 1st course Theme: Save the nature Aims: 1.Teaching the students to get the main information while reading the text; To practice using modal verb “should” 2. To develop students’ communicative skills ad abilities using various kinds of activities; Training in speaking, reading; To enrich the students’ vocabulary 3. To appreciate the problems of ecology and to think of ways how we should help; To bring up love to the nature, love to our country; The type of the lesson: getting new information Activities: Speaking, practicing writing, predicting, reading, doing exercises, discussing. Aids: Cards, tables, pictures, maps, computer. Interaction: Kazakh, Russian, Geography, Biology. The course of the lesson I. Org. moment. The student on duty report. The main task of the lesson we will talk about the ecological problems in our country. We’ll train using the modal verb should and do many other things. II. Warm up Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what you can do for your country. John F. Kennedy III. Ch. up home task Checking up the vocabulary 1. Translate the words 2. Doing grammar exercises (материл прилагается) IV. Presentation. 1. You should learn grammar and words to know English better. So a little bit of grammar. The use of the modal verb should. Should is used to express what the speaker thinks is right or the best thing to do. It expresses mild obligation or advice. You should learn English better. Should I learn English better? You shouldn’t miss the lessons. 2. Some people’s activities do a lot of harm to the environment. The Earth is in danger! Time has come to say: “Save the nature!” New words and phrases Environment People must care of their environment. Harm A lot of harm was done by fire last year. To protect Parents protect their children from harm Pollute means to make water, air, forests dirty. Pollution means the action of polluting To kill Oil kills birds. To save to cut down To solve the problem To preserve we should preserve natural resources. To surround means to be all around on every side. 3. Pre – reading work: Guess what words there may be in the text: Listen to the text; The environment as it known is all living and non-living things that surround us. They are animals and birds, woods and forests, air and water, land and atmosphere. All this may be called natural living conditions and resources. Natural resources such as minerals, oil, wood, land and water are widely used for purposes of home industry and agriculture. As a result the wide use of national resources upsets the biological balance, pollutes air, water and soil. It is dangerous for life. Pollution deprives people of fresh air, clean water, and healthy food. a) Post – reading work:Answer the questions • What’s the environment? • What living things surround us? • What non-living things surround us? • What kind of natural resources are widely used for purposes of home industry and agriculture? • What does pollution deprive people of? • What are the main ecological problems do you know? c. The work with the map: Will you show me the places of ecological disasters? What are they? • The examples are numerous (the Aral Sea are polluted and became smaller and smaller, people from Semey suffer from radioactivity, Bayconur influences greatly on the climate of the region, and in the Atyrau region oil kills birds and animals) d. Discussion S. 1 - Good morning. My name is …. Today we’ll speak about nature and the ecological problems which we have. S2 – What are the main problems in the environment today? S. 1 –The pollution of air and water. People have cut the trees and as a result many types of animals and plants are disappearing. And there is the problem of Atyrau region. Different oil companies work in there. Oil brings them profit. But they destroy the land and sea world. S. 3 – I don’t agree with you. They give jobs for people. Oil industry is very important for the future of Kazakhstan. S. 4 – But our health is in danger. Air is polluted, water is polluted. Birds and fish disappear. You kill fish. S. 5 – The pollution of the environment is a result of man’s activities. People do a lot of harm to the environment. Time has come to protect the environment. The Earth is in our hands. T. What should you do to protect the nature? • We should preserve natural resources • We should use less energy – petrol, electricity and gas. • We should use renewable energy such as solar power and wind power. • We should protect woods and forests • We should take care of living things • We shouldn’t cut down trees around our houses • We shouldn’t use so many chemicals in the land or in our food V.
