Aims of the lesson: 1) To develop students’ communicative skills on the theme : “Our free time”, using knowing of lexical units, speech and grammar structures on the theme. Getting knowledge about other countries’ pastime. To revise the lexical units as (to be keen on, to be interested in, to be crazy about, to be bored with), to master this units in speech and skills of reading and auding. 2) To make an ability to listen to each other, to broad a good attitude towards the communicators, to make a situation of students’ success in different kinds of work, to rise the motivation of students in learning English language with the use of different methods in teaching. 3) To develop an idea, attentiveness, quick mind, reading, writing, auding and speaking skills. To develop skills of self-control, to develop skills of searching works during writing some projects. The type of the lesson: the lesson of generalizing knowledge. Methods of teaching: 1. Method of word explanation. 2. Method of visual. 3. Method of checking knowledge and skills. 4. Audio – lingual method. 5. Method of projects. 6. Non – translating method. Equipment: Multimedia screen, students’ presentation, preparing presentations on the theme of the lesson, disc with auding task, giving materials (tables, cards). I. Organizing part. 1) Greetings. Giving aims and tasks of the lesson. The teacher: Good morning, boys and girls! Glad to see you again. Good morning, dear guests! Welcome to our lesson. The name of our lesson is “Our Pastime”. I think you can guess what we will speak about today, can’t you? Student: I think we’ll speak about favourite activities and hobbies… 2) Phonetic drill. Приложение 1 T: You are right. We’ll also read about famous man’s hobbies, try to speak about our hobby and we’ll see how people spend their free time in different countries. But first of all let’s warm up! Let’s pronounce the words you will need this lesson. Say after me: Students’ reading. 3) Enunciation drill. T: They say tastes differ. Different people have different habits. Look at the pictures and say what does this man do? Then say how would you spend your free time. P1: I would watch videos. P2: I would collect stamps. P3: I would… II. Main part of the lesson. 1) Revising the lexical materials. Приложение 2 T: Tastes really differ… Different people spend their free time differently. Let’s see what the most popular pastime activities are. Look at the screen, match the words and make up word combinations. Then write the answers. Use the model. Model: 1 – c T: Are you ready? Please, exchange your works, check them on your own and give a mark. You may use the keys… 1-c, 2-d, 3-h, 4-a, 5-j, 6-f, 7-b, 8-I, 9-e, 10-g. The criterions of marks. T: Now hand in your works. I shall see them later. 2) To check the home task. T: Well, pastime activities of young people are various. Last week you made a hobby survey at our college. Everybody took part in that project. You worked in small groups. Now you can see a final result of your collective work. Please, P1, P2, P3, introduce your report about the project. Students show their presentation. (Включена в главную презентацию урока) T: Well done. Thank you. 3) Working with the text: “The pastime of our President” Приложение 3 T: They say that the famous men find the most leisure. Look at the screen. You can see a man there. He is very famous. Do you know him? Who is he? P1: He is Nazarbaev N. A. T: What is he? P2: He is the President of our country. T: Would you like to know about his favourite pastime activities? Then read the text and write out word combinations which mean “увлекается”. After reading give a name to this text. - Reading the word combinations. - Answer the questions: 1) Is the President of our country keen on traveling? 2) Is he interested in playing golf? 3) Is he interested in discussing the latest news in computing? 4) Is he crazy about flying a delta plane? 5) Is he fond of extreme sports? 6) Is he bored with skiing? 7) Does he like to write books? 8) Is he fond of horse riding? 4) Working with pictures “Brown’s family” T: Look at the screen and meet an Australian family. They are the Browns. Say how they spend their pastime. Учащиеся высказываются об увлечениях семьи Браунов по картинкам. They are fond of skating, keen on basketball, interested in watching TV, crazy about flying the plane… (Картинки включены в главную презентацию) 5) Auding part. T: Some people like traveling around the world. I suggest you to travel about America and if to say exactly about New York, the capital of it. You’ll listen the text, and then you will try to advise someone to visit the places of interest you remember. But before it lets introduce with names which help you in understanding the text. a) Introducing with new words and phrases. The names of New York’s sightseeing Приложение 4 - Give an advice to your partner using should constructions. For Example: You should visit Soho. And you should have a rest at the Central Park. b) Listening the text. (twice) Приложение 5 c) After listening period - I read the sentence from the text and you should translate it. - You must fill the gaps in the text. - I read sentence you should rise your signal card with “yes” if you agree with it and “no” card if sentence isn’t correct. - Correct mistakes in the giving words than see the right variant. (Times Suqere, Braodway, Chinowtan, Litle Italy, Menhettan, Broklin Brige, Sentral Park, Stateu of Libetry) - Retell in short. 6) Talk Time. T: Tell us about your pastimes. 7) Game “Guess the most popular hobbies” Приложение 6 T: I have a list of some popular pastimes activities in Kazakhstan and in Britain. Try to divide them into two columns. Make up your own list of five hobbies for each country. Pay attention on the percents. And then compare with the right variant. 8) Read some proverbs about Pastime and translate them into Russian and Kazakh languages. Приложение 7 III. The Conclusion. T: Very good children!
