Questions/ Negatives Equipment: computer, interactive board, presentation Power Point “Past Simple”, cards with the grammar exercises, handouts (a picture story) Aim: to give practice in using of Past Simple Objectives: 1. To revise the irregular verbs; 2. To consolidate pupils’ understanding in usage and forming of Past Simple ; 3. To develop pupil’s skills of speaking and grammar thinking; 4. To present a new grammar (Negative and Question forms of the Past Simple) ; 5. To practice the new grammar; 6. To bring up a positive attitude to the study. The Procedure of the lesson Beginning of the lesson Good Morning, dear boys and girls! I’m glad to see you. Sit down, please. Today we continue to talk about the Past Simple Warming-up activity - Let’s revise the irregular verbs. Look at the slide. Write Past Simple forms of the verbs. Grammar building 1) Children get the first card and do the exercise orally. Card № 1 Write the verbs in the Past Simple: 1) Her husband usually (go) to his office by bus. He (come) to the office at 9.30 am yesterday. 2) Yesterday John (clean) his teeth at a half past seven in the morning. 3) She (buy) a new dress. 4) He (make) a sandwich. 5) They (need) money so they (sell) the car. 6) The baker (be) happy because everybody (like) his bread. 2) Children get the second card Card № 2 Complete the gaps with Past Simple form of the verbs in the box: visit go be buy give come make finish 1) I ________ to the booking-office and _________ a ticket. 2) She _________ her grandmother yesterday. 3) We _________ a tasty cake yesterday. 4) He ____________ at home. 5) Kate _________ me the book. 6) Lesly _________ in with her hands full of strawberries. 7) I ____________ my homework at 7 o’clock yesterday. 3) A teacher divides the children into groups of 4, gives some pictures. The task is to make up a story using the Past Simple Presenting a new grammar Presentation Power Point “Past Simple” (slides 3 - 6) Practice with the new grammar 1) Make these sentences negative (Slides 7 - 9) 2) Open your pupils books, page 19, Ex. 2.
