Yagufarova Alfiya Gabdulbarovna Semey, VKO Gymnasium #6 Texting as a new reality of communication Texting- is a kind of English acronyms used mostly with teenagers who try to keep time by shortening single words and even phrases. Being a teacher of English I see it's compulsory to enlarge students' knowledge with acronyms. The subject is disputive among teachers. Some EL teachers stand against using texstings at the lessons saying "I avoid it at all costs, opting to use proper spelling and grammar, even when I text." or "Text messaging is an ill omen towards the fate of the English language as we know it." However, second language learners find English a most bewildering and serious language. The idea that one can play with it and have fun is astonishing to them. Its versatility is hidden by its preposterous word formation rules and patterns. So to me, when I teach ESL, showing the above is important. Native speakers take for granted the anagrams, word games, and cheer pleasure they get from playing around with language. And EL students must have an idea they are able to do so. So in my classes we make up codes, do crosswords, do word searches and word-puzzles. For native speakers the fact that words like "wait", "mate", "great" can be written with an initial consonant united with the numeral equals laziness. For ESL students it is a revelation.
