In Ireland, Saint Patrick’s Day is both a holy day and a national holiday. Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland as he was the one who brought Christianity to the Irish. According to legend, Saint Patrick used a shamrock to explain about God. The shamrock, which looks like clover, has three leaves on each stem. Saint Patrick told the people that the shamrock was like the idea of the Trinity – that in the one God there are three divine beings: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. There is a lot of green in Ireland, so green is Ireland’s national color. People often wear green clothes on St. Patrick’s Day. There are many stories about St. Patrick. One story says there are no snakes in Ireland because St. Patrick sent them away. St. Patrick died on March 17 in the year 461. Nowadays Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated with parades with the procession of brass bands, eccentric suits, folk dancers and laughing persons by hundreds of millions of people. On this day, the whole world - from Dublin to Sidney and from New York to Moscow and Saint Petersburg - becomes Irish. Nauryz The most important Kazakh holiday of the year is Nauryz. “ Nauryz” is a Persian word which means ‘the new day’. Nauryz, which begins March 22, was always the main holiday for peoples of East. Nauryz is celebrated in Albania, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. Nauryz is the day when nature enlivens, day and night become equal in duration. Nauryz is the holiday of spring, for Kazakhs the beginning of the year. ‘Ulystyn uly kuni’. ‘Ulys kuni’ is the people’s great day. In modern Kazakhstan, Nauryz is truly a social event. People gather together at their main city squares, where holiday organizers erect yurts, stages, and trading tents where crafts and goods are sold. Nauryz symbolized the birth of a new year’s cycle of life. There is a traditional belief that people will spend their new year in a manner similar to the way they celebrated Nauryz. Indeed, the Nauryz table has important symbolism: the more food you have on your table, the better and more sufficient your life may be in the coming year. According to tradition, the number seven has a magical meaning and it is good to have seven dishes on your table. There is a special Nauryz meal called Nauryz-Kozhe. Remember, Nauryz is about welcoming spring, so even just getting outside to commemorate the change of seasons is a way to welcome the holiday. Above all, Nauryz is a family holiday. They say that Kerem who is God of the other world and the king of the country of death kidnapped beautiful Nargiz to his underground kingdom. But he promised to let her to meet her mother every spring. So, when she makes her way towards the mother the earth that warmed by her breath, returns to life. There are lots of legends about this holiday Some legends tell that he healed dead people too. One story tells that he made snow burn. Another story tells that St. Patrick chased all the snakes out of Ireland by beating on his drum. There are no snakes in Ireland today. According to legend, Saint Patrick used a shamrock to explain about God. Saint Patrick told the people that the shamrock was like the idea of the Trinity. So green is Ireland’s national color and People often wear green clothes on St. Patrick’s Day. But St. Patrick's Day has heathen motives. One of the principle characters of the holiday are leprechauns/ They are magic gnomes, who possesses the pot full of gold. If it is possible for lucky searcher to catch one of the leprechauns, this creature must tell the person where is hidden treasure/ 10. Let’s make up Venn’s diagram.
