Objectives: 1) to consolidate using the structure “used to +verb” 2) to consolidate lexis on this theme. 3) to develop oral speech Preparation: cards, slides on the interactive board, tape recorder. Plan 1.Warm up 2. reproduce the poem “The castle” 3. Work with the text “Stonehenge” 4. Speak about the ancient children living 4000 years ago. 5. Describe past games and toys. 6.working in groups. 7. Conclusion. Marks. 8. Home task:ex.2 p102 The procedure: 1. T: Good morning pupils. I’m glad to see you. Today, we’ll speak about the theme “Children in the ancient time». and at the end of the lesson we’ll try to compare children living in 100 years ago and children living nowadays. 2. Let’s begin our lesson with the poem “The castle». It is a poem about the boy, who turned around the ruined castle and turned into the ancient time. P1P2- recites it 3. a)Close your eyes. I suggest you turned into the ancient time too. Look at the picture; you can see a famous castle, which was build 4000 years. 1) By the way, where does it stand? 2) What is Stonehenge of? 3) Why was Stonehenge build? 4) How did people move the stones? b) T: Look at the screen, read the sentences and correct them using the words on these stones. P-P-P-P-P-P-P c)T: These children lived 4000 years ago, when Stonehenge was build. Look at the picture and talk about it using the phrase: I’m sure they used to… I think …. T: Answer my questions: 1) Did they eat meat? 2) Did they eat ice-cream? 3) Did they wear trousers? 4) Did the live in the houses? 5) Did they catch fish? 6) How did they cook? 4.a)T: One hundred years ago schools were different. Look at the screen and correct some of the pictures, and say about the children living in those times. P-P-P-P-P b) T: Look at the screen and finish the sentences using the structures “used to + verb” P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P c) T: Do exercise 3 p. 64. Right or wrong? Read and say. Work in pairs and answer the questions about pupils 100 years ago. e.g.Did they have pens?- yes, they did They used to have… P-P, P-P,P-P,P-P, P-P, P-P. e) T: Look in your schoolbags! - What do you have in it? - Did school children 100 years ago0 have these things? - What do you think? 5. a) T: These toys and games were popular with children 100 years ago. Can you name any of them? As you know children had fewer toys than children today. - What toys and games did the boys play? - What toys and games did the girls play? - What games did they play outside in the street? b) T: Look at the screen. You can see the doll’s house. Find the toys and games in it. Look across and down. P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P c) T: Which of these toys and games are still popular today? P-P-P-P-P d) T: Look at the screen. Match and draw a line in the sentences. P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P 6. T. Mrs. Gordon is talking to Joe about her childhood.
