A Game Lesson The theme: Modal verbs. Could + have done /been The main idea: 1. To present students using in their speech Modal verbs with the structure could have done 2. to interest students by developing their speaking skills & to make students to think critically. 3. to influence on students general outlook. Needed material: textbook, сards, tables. The Procedure of the lesson: 1. Checking up of the lesson: I. Warm-up – stage aim: create interest & establish the theme. What’s the role of Modal Verbs in the English language? What Modal verbs have you learnt yet and what are their meanings? Pre – Task II. Vocabulary Teach – stage-aim-to get ready to present grammar material in a game form. III. Presentation – to give students practice in using the form could+have done/(been) Rules learning ! Structure with the modal verb could+have done/(been) are used when the speaker want to offer his//her advice when he/she listens to a situation (like an accident) which happens with another person. could have offered – могли бы предложить should have called – следовало бы позвать should have asked - cледовало бы спросить could have given - могли бы дать IV. Follow-up To give students prepared cards each describing very briefly a difficult situation. Play a situation game according or following Ex.1p 115. Make students speaking using form of the Modal Verb Form.
