The Theme: Pets and Other Animals.
The objectives: 1. to teach pupils to speak on the theme, answer the questions, using active vocabulary previously learnt.
2. to develop pupils unprepared speech and listening skills
3. to develop pupils attention and creation
4. to teach pupils to work in pairs, to enlarge their knowledge about animals.
The procedure of the lesson:
1Organization moment:
T.: Hi! I`m glad to see here pupils, who like English, who like to speak English and who like animals. Do you like animals? You do, of course. Answer the questions, please.
Questions:
1. What animals do you know?
2. Do you have animals at home?
3. What animals do you have?
4. What is its name?
5. Do you like to play with your pet?
6. What can your pet do?
7. What does your pet like to eat?
8. Do you like to read books about animals?
9. What books did you read?
(Pupils answer the questions)
T.: Good. And where do animals live? Look. This is Africa. What animals live there? Choose the pictures of the animals and stamp them on the blackboard. Name the animals.
(Pupils choose the pictures of the elephant, tiger, lion, giraffe, crocodile)
T.: What animals live in the forest? (Pupils choose the pictures of a bear, fox, hare, wolf)
T.: How do we call animals which live in the forest?
P.: We call them wild animals.
T.: And what animals live on the farm? (Pupils choose the pictures of a horse, cow, pig, cat, sheep, hens, ducks)
T.: How do we call animals which live on the farm?
P.: We call them domestic animals.
(There are pictures of Africa, forest, farm on the screen blackboard)
(There is a knock at the door)
T.: Who is it? (A hen comes in. She is trembling)
T.: What`s up!
Hen: I live in the country-house with my chickens. Every day a strange animal comes to my place. I don`t know who is it. But I`m afraid. Help me, please.
T.:Now children, ask the hen questions about that strange animal. Let`s quess who is it.
P1.: Does it live on the farm? Hen: No, it doen`t.
P2.: Does it live in the forest? Hen: Yes, it does.
P3.: Does it eat grass? Hen: No, it doesn`t
P4.: Does it eat hens and chickens? Hen: Yes, it does.
P5.: What colour is it? Hen: It`s red.
P6.: It is a fox? Hen: Yes, it is.
T.: We`ll help you, hen. And now, listen to me. I know a boy. His name is Ben. He has got a father. He calls him Dad. (There is a puzzle on the blackboard. The teacher fills in the first line of the puzzle) Ben has got a pet at home. You can guess what pet Ben has if you write in the words that have three letters and the letter «a» in the middle. The last word will be the pet. My story will help you. Listen to it and fill in the lines of the puzzle.
The story: Ben is a schoolboy. Every morning he gets up and says “Good morning” Then he puts on his coat and hat, takes his bag and goes to school. Ben`s teacher is not a woman. He is a man. Ben is a good pupil. He can write and read well. Ben has many friends at school. But Ben likes to play at home with his pet, his big, black cat Pussy. ( Pupils fill in the lines with the words: hat, bag, man, can, has, cat)

T.: What pet has Ben? Yes, it`s a cat. And now, children, the next task. Solve the crossword. Find and circle the names of the animals. (The crossword is on the blackboard. Pupils work in groups. They find the English words for: bird, hare, parrot, elephant, fox, crocodile, horse)

T.: And now, read the sentence please. Make it, first. ( A picture of a bird with the letters. Pupils must make up a sentence)
P.: I like to go to the Zoo.
T.: That`s right. You know that a lot of animals live at the Zoo. We can go to the Zoo today. Let`s go. But first of all read the sentence on the blackboard.
Be careful what you say or do when you go to the Zoo.
T.: Why should people be careful?
P1.: Some animals are dangerous.
P2.: Some animals are wild.
P3.: Some animals are aggressive.
P4.: Some animals are big.
P5.: We musn`t feed animals.
P6.: We musn`t pull the hands through the cages.
T.: That`s right. And now we`ll watch a short film about London Zoo. London Zoo is situated in Regent`s Park, one of the famous places of the city. Here you can see many unusual and exotic animals. (The film is shown)
T.: Good. Now, let`s have a guessing game. Your home-task was to prepare the description of one animal. Your task is to name the animal, discribed by your classmates. If you are right this animal will be on the screen.
P1.: It is long and green. It can be aggressive. It likes to eat meat and fish. It lives in the water. It is wild. (A crocodile)
T.: You can check your answer, looking at the screen.
P2.: It is big and brown. It likes to sleep in winter. It likes to eat honey, berries, fish and meat. It lives in the forest. It is wild. In the Zoo it is funny and nice. What is it? (A bear)
P3.: It is nice, cunning, clever. It lives in the forest. It is red. It likes to eat hens, rabbits and other small animals. What is it? (A fox)
P4.: It is one of the biggest animals in the world. It lives in Africa and India. It is kind and clever. It eats vegetables and fruits. It has big ears and a long trunk? What is it? (An elephant)
P5.: It is funny and clever. It lives in the forest, in the trees. It can run, jump, climb very well. It likes bananas. What is it? (A monkey)
P6.: This animal is very unusual. It can`t walk. It can`t run. It can only jump. It lives in Austrelia. It eats grass. What is it? (A kangaroo)
P7.: It is an exotic animal. It lives in Africa. It has a long neck and long legs. It eats grass and leaves. What is it? (A giraffe)
P8.: It lives in the ocean. But it is not a fish. It is one of the biggest animals in the world. What is it? (A whale)
P9.: It is wild and dangerous. It lives in the forest. It can run fast. It is grey. It eats meat. What is it? (A wolf)
T.: Good of you. Let`s make а conclusion (there is a cheme on the blackboard)

P1.: Animals can be wild and domestic. Domestic animals can be pets and farm animals. All the animals can be big, little, long-legged, long-necked, short-necked, long-tailed, short-tailed. They can be dangerous and aggressive, they can be funny, kind and clever. We love them all and must protect them.
T.: And the last task. I`ll give you pictures with the parts of animal`s body. Your task is to make up an unusual animal and give it a name. (Pupils make up a fantastic animal from the different parts of the bodies of different animals)
T.: Your work today is exelent. I`m sure that you have studied more about animals and will continue to study about thier life. Your home-task is to be ready for the dictation. Revise the active vocabulary.
