Article If you have an opportunity to study the foreign languages abroad, you should take it. Two years ago I was in England, in a small town Wellington, which is situated in the south – west of England. It is not far from Bristol. The first thing that surprised us when we landed in GB was unusual style of their wearing clothes, mostly casual and usually not-ironed. And rainy weather, which lasted for about ten days, stuck us. In the canteen we noticed that Englishmen eat hot meals with a cold water. And one more note about the British people is they prefer small-sized cars in comparison with the Kazakh people, because the British are very economical. I was a group leader of pupils from Almaty and Atyrau. We were studying English at a summer course school. Our studies lasted four weeks. It was great to study in a language environment. The English language was everywhere: at the lessons, in the library, in the canteen and at the out-of-door activities. By the way, much time and attention is paid to sport in England. As for the British people, they don`t know other languages, that was why students had to communicate only in English or they just tried to do their best. English surroundings helped us to master the language: all the students listened to the English words, phrases, sentences, conversations and songs. Every morning Mr. Etherton, the head-master of summer school, started with a ten-minute-meeting for GCSE-or A-level students. He told the students about a week`s plan, about rules of behaviour and accommodation regulations while being in Wellington. Every Thursday, four times during our period of time in GB, we went for a trip. For the 1st time our trip was to a safari park, where we were watching wild animals and birds. We could see lions, bulls, elephants, wolves, zebras and giraffes strolling free in their own zone. Next three Thursdays we visited such cities as Oxford, Bristol and Bath. It was unforgettable! We had great impressions. On the eve of the Olympic Games - 2012 we left for London. Our guide led us to Tower Bridge. We had a ship excursion on the Thames. Unfortunately our group was short of time and we couldn’t visit many more places of interest. It was impossible to go sightseeing everywhere in London during three days. Travelling on the Thames we couldn’t even go to the Golden Eye. Long queues prevented us from visiting it. But we could see the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. As for me I looked forward to visit the Museum of Madame Tussaud’s, I was eager to look at wax figures of well-known people and celebrities. London, as England`s capital with its magnificent views and, of course, Wellington town, made a great impression on me and my group. I think it is very useful to travel and to study at the same time. My piece of advice to the pupils is if you have an opportunity to go abroad, you should take it and you won`t be disappointed at your decision.
