The theme:THE EARTH. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.

Grade, 9 I.The educational aim of the lesson:1.To master new lexics and pupils’ speech II. Developing: 2.To develop pupils’ skills and habits in monologue speech through asking, answering questions. 3.To develop logical and critical thinking and creation. III. Bringing up. 1.To bring up the feeling of love nature. IV. Practical. Visual aids: slogans, a map of KR, chart , pictures , tape recorder and interactive board. 1.To be able to talk about environment. The theme of today’s lesson is ”The Earth. Environmental protection’’. It is an important problem. We will speak about the environment and environmental problems. V.Checking up the home – assignments.Ex.1,p .163. complete the sentences using ”should” or “shouldn’t” and the words in brackets. What is the environment? Look at the diagram on the blackboard and answer the question. 1.Environment means what is around us, around you, me and all people on the Earth. 2.Environment is all that surrounds us , the air we breathe, the soil on which we stand and walk, the water we drink. Thank you. As you know two hundred years ago a man lived in a great harmony with his environment because industry was less developed. Today the situation is different. People all over the world are worried about environment and about environmental problems that endanger people’s lives. What are the most important environmental problems? ( Look at the diagram) 1.Pollution in many forms : water pollution, air pollution , destruction of wildlife and countryside beauty. 2.Noise from cars, buses. 3.Food is not healthy. 4.Animals are in danger . Animals are killed for meat, oil, skin, fur. 5.Plants die from pollution. You are right . And what does pollution cause? 1.I think that pollution causes different kinds of diseases. People can be unhealthy, because the water is polluted , soil is polluted, and air is polluted. Food is not healthy. 2.Fish die in lakes , rivers, seas. 3. Forests are destroyedfor building. 4. Much of dangerous wastes go into the air and are carried by winds for great distances. Wastes from factories, the chemical industry and heavy industry are very dangerous. 5.Breathing such polluted air we lose our health, which above wealth. Taking care of nature is everybody’s duty. What should we do and what shouldn ‘t we do in order to help the Mother Nature? 1.We shouldn’t throw litter into the streets. 2. We should keep the country tidy, air and water clean. 3.Protect the environment from the pollution. 4. We should grow flowers . 5.We shouldn’t cut trees. 6. We shouldn’t be litterbugs. It means: the Earth is our Home . Do not pollute it. Listening the text from the tape recorder “The 30th celebration of Earth Day in the United States”. The 22th of April is the first Earth Day was held in the USA in April, 1970. VI.Look at the map. Are there any ecological problems in Kazakhstan? Name the places on the map where there are ecological problems andpin the word “SOS” ( Atyrau, Aral sea,Semei) What ecological problem is there in Atyrau? We know different oil companies work in Atyrauregion.Oil brings them a lot of profit. There are for and against arguments of the companies and the Friends of Nature. And whatcan you say about the Aral Sea? Many years ago the Aral Sea was a bright blue sea with a lot of fish. Now the Aral Sea will disappear if no immediate measures are taken.What can you say about Semipalatinsk? The nuclear testing grounds near Semipalatinsk have poisoned the environment. Are people happy to live there? The people of this region are not happy to live there , because there are a lot of ecological problems. The water, air, land, soil are polluted. Well done! Problem Activity Who will do it Slogan 1.There are almost no trees in the school yard 2. Next spring we should plant trees. Every pupil Do not break trees! Let’s make our yard green! VII.So my next task is to guess the riddle. 1) It has a very long neck and four long legs. 2) It looks like a horse with black and white stripes. 3) It is a very big cat. 4) It can fly. It has long wings. It is the American national symbol. 5) It likes honey and fish. VIII. Conclusion. We know that the Earth is our common home, a big green home. And all its inhabitants – people, animals, and birds need to in peace and harmony. We must take care of the Earth for ourselves and for next generations. We must keep our environment clean. “Pupils’ wish” I want to live and not to die! I want to laugh and not to cry! I want to feel the summer sun. I want to sing when life is fun. We have spoken about the ecology and environment. Ecological problems are global problems of 21st century. We should solve ecological problems. IX. Home work ex. 7 on page 148.
