урок по английскому языку для 8 класса на тему Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan
| Date: Teacher: Gorbunova Ye. V. Grade: 8 Theme: Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan. Aims: To form Ss’ new ideas on the theme “Astana”; to introduce Ss with the history of Astana; to inculcate in Ss a feeling of love and respect for the Motherland; to develop Ss’ lexical, grammatical, communicative skills and critical thinking. Pupils will be able: 1) to take part in discussion about Kazakhstan and about Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan; 2) to communicate and express their opinion in English; 3) to complete the table “KWL”; 4) to connect early learnt material with the new one; 5) to evaluate their work and their partners’ work; Technology of the development of critical thinking. Procedure of the lesson. 1. Organization moment. 2. Presentation of the theme. Today at the lesson we’ll speak about Astana, the capital of our Republic. You’ll be able to read the text and to speak about our country and capital. You’ll work in three groups. I want you to remember the rules of our English lessons. Look and read after me all together: 1. Be active! 2. Be friendly and tolerant! 3. Help each other! 4. Talk English all the time! 3. Warming-up. Speaking. First of all answer my questions. (T —P1 P2 P3 P4… ) Where are you from? Were you born in Kazakhstan? What is the capital of Kazakhstan? Where is it situated? What part of the country do you live? What can you say about the geography of the country? Where is the Republic of Kazakhstan situated? What is the size of the area of Kazakhstan? What can you say bout the population of the Republic? What is the official language of the country? What countries does Kazakhstan border? 4. Interpretation. Pre-reading task. T’s activity: As you know today our lesson is devoted to the theme “Astana”. You were born in Kazakhstan. What can you say about the capital of our country? If you are not able to say it in English,say it in your native language? (Ss express their opinion) 5. Speaking. Writing. Group work. T’s activity: Write down what you know about (K) Astana, the capital of our Republic, what you want to know (W), and what you learned (L). Ss’ a.: Ss complete the 3rd column of the method “KWL” in groups. They may use the text about Astana. 7. Reflection. Ss’ possible answer: Методический прием критического мышления «ЗХУ» «KWL» Before reading After reading K W L 1.Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan. 2.It is situated in the central part of the country. 3.It is one of the largest cities of Kz. 4.It is a modern city and the youngest one. 5.Astana is famous for its modern buildings: the monument of Baiterek, the Circus,the entertainment centre of Duman,the Khan Shatyr. 6. It has a lot of cinemas, theatres and museums. 7.The former name of Astana is Akmola. I want to know about 1.the history of Astana: When was Akmola founded? What was Akmola famous for at that time? What role did Akmola play during the second World War and after that? When did Astana become the capital of the Republic of Kz? 2. sightseeings: What is Astana famous for now? Astana (the former Akmola) was founded in 1830 as fortification of Russian Empire. In 1862 stanitsa Akmola got the status of a town. Akmola played an important role in supplying the Soviet Army with aw materials and products during the Second World War. In 1961 Akmola was renamed into Tselinograd and became the centre of Tselinny Krai. In 1992 the city got its name Akmola again and since October 1997 Akmola has become a new capital of RK. Later on it got its present name Astana. 2) There are many places of interest in Astana: the Central Square and the Trelinniks Avenue,the Palace of the Youth and the Bridge across the Ishim River,the Regional Museum of Fine Arts and others.
