“Welcome, Spring!” Objectives: 1) to develop communicative skills and abilities through different communicative activities; 2) to get new information about nature in spring; 3) to teach pupils to love nature; 4) to create an interest to study the English language. The programme: Teacher: Hello, boys and girls! Today we shall go to the forest to say good-bye to winter and to see spring coming. (Scene: A glade in a forest. The wind is blowing. Winter appears) Winter: Hello, children! I’m Winter. I’m white and cold. But spring is coming … (Winter begins crying with her face buried in her hands. Snow crystals appear dancing and singing) Snow Crystals: Let us laugh and let us sing, Dancing in a merry ring. Let us laugh and let us sing, Dancing in a merry ring. Winter hand in hand with spring Dancing in a merry ring. Winter hand in hand with spring Dancing in a merry ring. Birds and flowers appear. Winter and Snow Crystals: Let us laugh and let us sing, Dancing in a merry ring. (Snow Crystals and Winter gather round Spring. Winter holds out her hand. Winter hand in hand with spring Dancing in a merry ring! Sun (Appears from the right and exclaims): Winter hand in hand with spring Dancing in a merry ring! Spring: Children, do you know spring flowers? Look, some of them have come. ( Spring flowers appear). My dear flowers, when are you coming to the gardens and fields? Snowdrop: I am first to come. Pupil 8: Flowers here, flowers there Flowers shining everywhere. Millions of them stretching afar Each one like a tiny star. In the spring sun They are nice and gay. What a glorious sight This is May Day! Pupil 9: The days are clear Day after day. When April is here, Then soon comes May. Pupil 10: There are twelve months in all the year, As I hear many men say, But the merriest month in all the year Is the merry month of May. Pupil 11: Spring, spring, spring! The trees are green. It brings flowers, joy and grass, And a holiday for us! Pupil 12: In the spring, in the spring Sweet and fresh is everything. Winter winds are no more growing, In the fields all is growing. Story-teller: One day in very early spring the crocus buds were splitting. But none of the flowers was afraid to stay, the weather was not warm. They curled their petals, shook their heads and whispered with a smile … Flowers and Trees: It’s too early! We must wait a little. Story-teller: Two butterflies came flying past, they said … Butterflies: Come out and play, It’s time to wake, Please lift your heads. It’s such a lovely day! Story-teller: Then the little crocus looked out; she saw the sun and said … The little crocus: The spring has come, wake up, wake up. I don’t want to sleep! Teacher: And now it is time to say good-bye to Winter and Snow Crystals. (Spring, Sun, Flowers and spring months wave their hands driving Snow Crystals and winter away) Winter, Winter, Go away!
