Shandyrova Gulnara Lesson topic: Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand Objectives: the students will be build fundamental understanding about Australia and New Zealand the students will develop critical thinking the students will be able to describe things in target language Teacher: Good morning dear students. I am glad to see you. Today we are going to talk about Australia and New Zealand .Let me start the lesson with Chinese proverb. Tell me, I forget. Show me, I remember. Involve me, I understand. I hope that you will get engaged into this lesson. Teacher:I think that everybody likes travelling. So today on the lesson we are going to make a trip to wonderful countries . But before that let me you ask few questions. 1 Warm up Have you ever been abroad? Are you planning on going anywhere for your next vacation? What was your best trip? Do you prefer summer vacations or winter vacations? What countries would you like to visit ?Why? The students answer the questions. 2 Presentation Teacher presents information about two countries New Zealand and Australia and checks students’ comprehension by True False task. Questions: The symbol of Australia is penguin Australia is the smallest island Australian natives are Indians New Zealand is situated in three islands First people in New Zealand are Maori 3 Reading text about New Zealand and Australia. The students do Jigsaw reading. The texts are given on separate pieces of paper. The students retell each other the content of their abstracts. Then in groups they try to assemble whole text. 4 Writing The students fill in gaps with information about Australia and New Zealand 5 Grammar Present Perfect The students answer what has just happened? The teacher writes a series of exclamations on the board . In pairs or groups, students choose an exclamation, think of an event which might have caused someone to say it, and write down a brief description of the event, using the present perfect (e.g. “What?” – Someone hasn’t heard what was just said.) Then they choose another and do the same again. After two minutes, the teacher invites students to read out their sentences without identifying the exclamations that gave rise to them; the rest of the class guesses what the exclamations were. Oh! Are you serious? 6 Project wok The learners will be divided in three groups. Two groups will be given pictures and posters .The students work in groups and present posters about two countries in order to attract tourists to either Australia or New Zealand. The 3rd group decides which poster is more attracting for tourists. 7 Home work. The learners should look for information about endangered species from Australia or New Zealand. 7 The students give self evaluation and chooses appropriate sentence | |
