Задачи: обучающие: развивать умения и навыки монологической и диалогической речи; закрепить лексику; развивающие: развивать память и мышление учащихся; тренировать их внимание; воспитательные: прививать интерес к культуре, традициям, достопримечательностям стран изучаемого языка. Оборудование: Презентация, проектор, карточки с текстом и с заданиями. The procedure of the lesson 1. The beginning of the lesson. Warm - up. Teacher: Good-morning, dear children, I’m glad to see you at the lesson today, you may sit down. I hope you are all right and ready to work hard. We have been training hard in preparation for this day. You have learnt a lot about London’s sights, its history and traditions. Everybody has his role and I hope you will enjoy the lesson. Today we have got an unusual lesson, we have got guests at the lesson and I believe that you’ll do your best and our guests will be pleased and satisfied with your answers. 2. Вступительное слово учителя, объявление плана урока, обсуждение цитаты. Teacher: OK. As I’ve already said today we are going to have an unusual lesson. It will be a trip to London. (На экране появляется вид Лондона) Slide 1. We’re going to talk about travelling, sights of London, visiting public places. (На экране появляется эпиграф урока: ‘World is a book and those who don’t travel, read only one page’) Slide 2. St. Augustine once said: ’The world is a book and those who don’t travel, read only one page’. Do you understand this quotation, these wise words? Can you translate it? Pupils’ answers. Teacher: The world is a book and London is its wonderful page. But what ways of travelling do you know? What is your favourite method of travelling? P1: We can travel by boat, by car, by coach, by train or by plain. Teacher: The quickest way is by plain, so we’ll choose this kind of transport. But before our flight we should do some exercises. Please, stand up and repeat after me: Up, down! (hands up – hands down) Up, down! (hands up – hands down) Which is the way To London Town? Where, where? Up in the air! Close your eyes – And you are there! Slide 3. 3. Main part of the lesson. Teacher: I see you are ready to start our trip. Fasten your safety belts and don’t smoke! Slide 4. (под звук самолета учащиеся делают перелет из Казахстана в Великобританию) Slides 5-9 Now we are in London the most famous and beautiful city in the world, the capital of the UK. A scene “At an Information desk” (учащиеся разыгрывают диалог) Slide 10: – At last, I’m in London. It’s great! Oh, here is an Information desk. Excuse me, sir. – Yes. What can I do for you? – Could you tell me the best way to get much more information about London? – Is it your first time here? – Yes, it is. – What have you already seen in London? – I haven’t seen anything yet. I have just come. – Oh, where are you from? – I am from Kazakhstan, from Zhezkent. – Well, you can take our London sightseeing tour on a double-decker bus. The best way to learn more about the world is travelling‚isn’t it ? – I agree with you. Thank you sir. Good bye! – Good bye. Have a nice trip! Teacher: But what places of interest are we going to visit? To know we should do the following task: read and match the words Slide 11. So you’ll see all these places and much more of London from our double-decker Slide 14. Let’s go! Teacher: Look at the window what do you see? Do you know the name of this park? Pupil 1: I know it is Hyde Park. You can find many old and new beautiful parks in London. The largest park in London is Hyde Park. It is one of the most popular places of Londoners on hot summer days. Teacher: Look at the window what do you see? Do you know the name of this tower? Pupil 2: I know it is the Tower of London. It was a fortress, a palace, a prison and the King’s Zoo. Now it is a museum. William the Conqueror built it in the 11th century. There are always black ravens in the Tower of London. People keep them in the Tower of London and look after them very well as they believe that London will be rich while ravens live there. Teacher: Look at the window what do you see? Do you know the name of this church? Pupil 3: I know it is one of the greatest English churches – St. Paul’s Cathedral. The famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren built it in the 17th century after the Great Fire. It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers. Teacher: Look at the window what do you see? Do you know the name of this square? Pupil 4: I know it is Trafalgar Square. Some people say it is the most beautiful place in London. In the middle of the square stands a tall column. It is a monument to Admiral Nelson. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument. There are two beautiful fountains in the square. Teacher: Look at the window what do you see? Do you know the name of this building? Pupil 5: I know it is the National Gallery. It is one of the best picture galleries of the world. Every day many tourists visit this fine building with tall columns. Teacher: Look at the window what do you see? Pupil 6: I know it is Tower Bridge. Until 1749, there was only one bridge over the river. The old London Bridge looked very strange. There were houses and shops on the bridge. Now it is one of the famous bridges across the Thames. It opens and ships go up and down the river. 4. A musical pause. Teacher: We are all a bit tired. Let’s have a rest. Let’s sing the song “London Bridge”. (учащиеся становятся в «Ручеёк», изображая мост, и поют песню, которая одновременно проецируется на проектор (flash - song)). Big Ben is the name of the clock and the bell of the clock tower of the Houses of Parliament. You can here the sound of Big Ben every hour in London. The clock and the bell got their names after Sir Benjamin Hall. He was a tall man, whose nick name was Big Ben. So people know the clock as Big Ben. Teacher: There are a lot of poems about this clock? let’s read one of them: Tick-tock, tick – tock, This is Big Ben. Big Ben is a clock. Day and night With all its might Big Ben, the clock, Says: Tick-tock! Teacher: And we continue our trip. Look at the window what do you see? Pupil 9: I know it is Westminster Abbey. It is one of the most famous and beautiful churches in London. It is very old. It is more than 900 years old. There are so many monuments and statues there. Many English kings and queens are buried there. Teacher: And now look at the photo of this beautiful woman. Do you know her name? Pupils: Diana. Teacher: Right you are. She is Diana, Princess of Wales. She died in the car crash. Let’s watch the fragment of Diana’s burial in Westminster Abbey. (watching the video) Teacher: Well, we continue our trip. Look at the window what do you see? Do you know the name of this building? Pupil 10: I know it is Buckingham Palace. The Queen of England lives there. It is a wonderful building with a monument in front of which is the Queen Victoria Memorial. Teacher: And now let’s read and translate the text about Buckingham Palace. Be very attentive because after reading you should answer the questions. Text. Buckingham Palace was built in 1703 in the centre of London. Buckingham Palace is two places, not one. It is a family house, where children play and grow up. It is also the place where presidents and kings of different countries come to meet the Queen. Now, the Queen of Great Britain is Queen Elizabeth II. The palace is really big. It has 600 rooms, 3 miles of red carpet and 300 clocks. The Queen’s day has many ceremonies. When the Queen gets up in the morning, 7 people look after her. One prepares her bath, one prepares her clothes and one looks after her dogs. The Queen has 8 or 9 dogs and they all live in their own bedroom. Every Tuesday evening the Queen meets the Prime Minister. They talk about the news and have a drink. 1. How many dogs does the Queen have? 6. Who does the Queen meet every Tuesday? Teacher: And now let’s watch the video film about Buckingham palace. (watching the video) Teacher: Но вот слеза вдруг по щеке, И грустно нам вот так, Смотрю на Лондон и уже, Увы, в последний раз. И вот гудит наш самолёт, И вот мы в облаках, В Жезкент летим мы– домой, А щёки все в слезах. О Лондон, ты любовь моя, I like it very much. We don’t say to you: “Прощай!” But we tell you: “Good bye!” Teacher: Well, children, our London sightseeing tour is over. Do you like it? And now let’s go home. (под звуки самолета учащиеся возвращаются в Казахстан)
