To enrich pupils knowledge about the English-speaking countries 2. To enable pupils to get over timidity and improve their speaking skills 3. To show the pupils how learning English will be joyful 4. To get pupil interested in learning English THEME The United TIME REQUIRED: one period of 45 minutes OBJECTIVES: Students must be able to practice their knowledge about The United Kingdom • Students must be able to speak on the definite topic. • Students must be able to analyze, synthesize and evaluate information from various sources (video, handouts, computer text version) MATERIALS REQUIRED: • posters and pictures on the theme the United Kingdom • interactive board • handouts of texts; • presentations • students Book “English for 9th class” • sheets of paper USED TECHNILOGIES: • interactive“ technology • method of projects • communicative technology • Role-playing games LITERATURE: 1. Teacher: Good morning, dear guests! You are welcome to our lesson “LET THEM SPEAK “ And I am the leader of it-Svetlana Akatayevna Children! look at each other ,turn to your neighbor and say ”I am glad to see you very much! Nice to meet you!’ II. Warming-up. To make up the theme of our lesson I want you to guess the crossword In order to check your vocabulary. .Pupils work in groups. • 1 st line-the English equivalent of to give.assistance /syn: o help./-to support • 2 nd line-What is the English for? a large area of countryside, especially in relation to its appearance- landscape • 3 d line-What is it?- a reptile ,such as a frog, which lives both on land and in water but must produce its eggs in water-an amphibian • 4 th line-English equivalent of having a lot of mountains, very big/syn huge ,hilly-mountainous • 5th line-What is it? a large mass of ice which moves slowly-glacier • 6th line-Have you ever seen? —worlds famous skating rink which is located 15 km from Almaty Medeo • 7th line-English equivalent of unusual or special and therefore surprising and worth mentioning/syn ;outstanding, Wonderful./-remarkable • 8th line-What is it?-when people are friendly and welcoming to guests and visitors Or the main feature of Kazakh people character-hospitality • 9th line-What is it?-A white bird-the symbol of love and devotion-a swan • 10 th line-What is the English for? a type of fish which lives in northern parts of the world and is usually caught for its eggs, which are eaten as caviar – a sturgeon • 11th line-What is the English for? -not violent, sever extreme/syn;kind, gentle, soft ,calm, temperative/-mild • 12 th line-English equivalent for? a bird with pointed wings and a long tail which can be trained to hunt other birds and small animals-falcon • 13th line-What is it ? -the quality of being humid/syn ;dampness ,wetness /-humidity ПРИЛОЖЕНИЕ№1 Teacher: Pupils! what is the key-word of the crossword? right you are” The United Kingdom” Teacher You see The theme of our today’s lesson “The United Kingdom”. You have already known a lot about Great Britain and its people, but some things are easily forgotten. Let us brush up our knowledge of this country. So, the motto of our lesson is “He who has never seen Scotland Wales England Northern Ireland does not really know The United Kingdom Activity № 1 Teacher: Look at the map of the UK. As you know the UK is situated in the north – west coast of Europe and it consists of 4 parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. As we said before each country has its separate national identities. Each country has its own flag, flower-symbol and places of interests,famous people. Choose the country you will speak . you will work in groups. Come to the table.On the table You see flags ,flower-symbols and some pictures .they are in a mess. Choose identities. according to your chosen country.Pin the flower-symbols to your clothes and go to you place.Now! you are the Englishmen In your groups you will have the leader Who will ask you About your country but he will be the guest from the other countries :China, Japan Africa and Germany. The following task will be to take the masks and make up dialogues in a few words about the national flags , symbols , main sights and famous people of these 4 countries. . Work in groups • How does the national flag look like? • What is the flower-symbol of the country? • What famous people of the country do you know? • What famous sights of the country do you know? • Where is the country situated? Lets listen to your dialogues ,go to the blackboard Activity № 2 You have spoken about the symbols and identities. Do You want to know something else? Do you like to travel? I want you to travel a bit. I advise you to visit your neighbour country. On your place in front of you there are coloured cards. Those Who have Yellow cards will visit Wales, green cards -will go to Scotland, pink cards will visit England, red cards-will visit Northern Ireland. Change your place according to the colour of your card. I wish you good travelling. Try to learn something new about the country you will visit and be ready to Speak about the United Kingdom. Come back to your place and be ready to retell the news you have learnt In your new groups.Work quickly. I will give you 5minutes. Приложение№2 Activity № 3 The time is over. Come back. On you desks you have everything necessary; flags, flower-symbols, maps ,sights,Photo of famous people. I’ll give you 5 minutes. Activity №4 The last part of our lesson is I want you to speak about our Motherland. Where were you born? Some interesting facts about the country you already know. You will listen to some information about our country according to our scheme .Listen attentively, try to understand and get ready to answer the questions: ПРИЛОЖЕНИЕ№3 -What is Kazakhstan?- Where is Kazakhstan situated?. - What is Kazakhstan washed by? What rivers of Kazakhstan do you know? - Are there high mountains in Kazakhstan? - What is Astana? -What is the total area?-?- -What is the population?-What is the currency?-Who is the Prime Minister?- What other big cities in Kazakhstan can you name? -What lakes of Kazakhstan do you know ?-Where is industry concentrated?-What is the official language?-What is the nationality? -What colour is the national flag? -What are your associations with the word “Kazakhstan?” Activity №4 I see you are tired. Iwant you to relax. Stand up. I will read you the statements. If I am right, you will stand up .If I am wrong, you will sit down. • Kazakhstan is situated mostly in Asia, west of the Urals in Eastern Europe/right/ • The whole territory of Kazakhstan is the Kazakh Steppe. A few grasslands and only Sandy regions/wrong/ • Ili River, Irtysh River, Lake Balkchash-are the main water resources of the republic/ right / Charyn Canyon.
